PRESS RELEASE

CITY OF JEFFERSON

 PRESS RELEASE – MARCH 24, 2011

The City of Jefferson is actively preparing for a potential flooding emergency along the Rock River.

The river level is expected to rise to 11’ by Saturday afternoon.    At 11.3’ floodwater affects the low lying areas of residential and business property in Jefferson – including the intersection of Highway 26 and County Road N and along Riverview Drive in the area of the City’s Wastewater Plant.

Sandbags for City of Jefferson residents are available at the Jefferson Public Works Department (7a-3p weekdays) and Jefferson Police Department (8a-3p weekends) for .25 cents each.  At this point, the City is not providing free sand and free bags.  The City is NOT able to help place sandbags at this time.

We will continue to watch river levels and are prepared to increase our response as circumstances dictate.

Please refer to the City’s website www.jeffersonwis.com or the City of Jefferson Facebook page for more information.
