A
façade grant program has been established to assist Jefferson businesses with
improvement to their buildings. All
work must be done on the exterior of the building and result in a publicly
visible improvement. All work must
be done in accordance with the City codes and all required permits must be
obtained. Work must include the
correction or any exterior building code violations.
Signs are eligible for a façade grant but must not amount to more that
50% of the total project expenditure. Routine
maintenance procedures (painting, siding, etc.) will not alone be eligible for a
façade grant, although these types of procedures may be a component of a larger
project. The following types of
property are not eligible: tax delinquent property, property in litigation,
property in condemnation or receivership, property which is tax exempt and
exclusively residential buildings. Reimbursement
shall be limited to no more than 25% of the total cost of eligible improvements,
not to exceed $2,500 per property. Any
project totaling less than $1,000 is not eligible.
The application must be approved by the Jefferson Development Commission
before any work is started for which reimbursement is requested under this
program. Reimbursement amounts are subject to availability of program
funds and Common Council approval. Please contact City Administrator Tim Freitag at 920-674-7700 or tfreitag@jeffersonwis.com for more information. |
