Election Information

 

The Polling Place for the City of Jefferson is located in the City Hall Meeting Rooms at 317 South Main Street. 

The polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. 

Registration

Any person who has lived in the municipality for at least 10 days and is over the age of 18 may register to vote.  You may register to vote at City Hall at any time or you may register to vote at the polling place on election day (expect a wait!

Absentee Ballots     

Any qualified elector unable to get to the polling place on election day may request to vote an absentee ballot.  To obtain an absentee ballot you must fill out an Application For Absentee Ballot form.  This form is available at City Hall or it can be downloaded from the highlighted link above using Adobe Acrobat Reader.  The completed form can be mailed to:  City of Jefferson, 317 South Main Street, Jefferson, WI  53549.  Special absentee voting application provisions apply to electors who are indefinitely confined to home or a care facility, in the military, hospitalized or serving as a sequestered juror.  If this applies to you contact City Hall.  

 

PLEASE NOTE:  The last day that an absentee ballot may be sent via mail is the Thursday prior to the election.  

 

Registration Cancellations     

Following each general election the municipality shall revise and correct the registration list by reviewing the registration of any elector who failed to vote within the past 4 years if qualified to do so during that entire period.  Each such elector shall be mailed a Notice of Suspension of Registration card which entitles them to apply for continuation of their voter registration.  If the card is returned because the elector has moved from the municipality, the registration will be cancelled.  If we do not receive a signed card requesting a continuation of registration the registration will be cancelled.  Any elector whose registration is cancelled may have his or her registration reinstated by filing a new registration form.
