The City of Jefferson is conveniently located to several major markets. Two primary highways travel through the City of Jefferson. State Highway 26 runs north and south and State Highway 18 runs east and west. In addition, the City of Jefferson is only six miles south of Interstate I-94. The
City of Jefferson is located approximately midway between Milwaukee and
Madison; 25 miles north of Janesville and within about one to one and
half hours from the the Fox River valley to our north and Rockford, IL to our
south. Our location affords you access to major transportation routes without the high cost of living usually found in larger metropolitan areas!
The City of Up to $2,500 is available to any business in the city for the improvement of their business entrance or façade.
This is a program to assist business property owners in securing lower interest loans for the rehabilitation of their properties.
The city operates a revolving loan fund to encourage the creation and retention of permanent jobs which provide a wage appropriate to the skills and experience of the local labor force and that is competitive. The applicant must leverage $1 of private funds for every $1 of loan funds requested. These are secured loans that can be used for working capital, machinery, equipment, fixtures and real estate. TAX INCREMENTAL FINANCING (TIF) The city has established a T.I.F. district in the downtown area. Property located in TIF District #2 or #5 may be eligible for a tax increment share in the form of a revenue bond. In addition to the above
