Spring Election Information
Please be advised that you will need to periodically REFRESH this page to receive updates! General Election Information A Spring Election will be held on April 6th, 2010. The polls for CITY of Jefferson residents is at City Hall, 317 South Main Street, Jefferson. Polls open at 7 AM and close at 8 PM. If you do not live within the CITY limits of Jefferson, you DO NOT vote here. Absentee voting CANNOT be done on Election Day. Sample Ballot

Absentee Ballot Information Absentee voting is available for anyone who plans to be absent on election day. We would encourage anyone who can vote at the polls on election day to do so. Please be advised that absentee voting in the office may take anywhere from 15-30 minutes (dependent upon number of voters and the time it takes to complete additional required paperwork). Ballots may NOT be taken out of the office, not even for yourself. Absentee ballots may be requested and mailed prior to April 1, 2010. April 1, 2010 is the last day that the City Office is allowed to MAIL ballots. Absentee voting may be done in person up until 5pm on Monday, April 5, 2010. City Hall is CLOSED on April 2, 2010. Absentee requests may be sent by mail by using the State absentee request form or by including the following in a handwritten request: Name of voter, current address, date(s) you are requesting the absentee ballot for and your signature. You MUST be a registered voter (and your voter address and name must be current) in order to request an absentee ballot. If your voter registration is NOT current, you must reregister in person at the City Hall. RECAP: To Receive an Absentee Ballot... 1) Are you a RESIDENT of the City of Jefferson (this means that your home appears in the shaded area in the ward map above). (IF YES, CONTINUE TO #2) 2) Are you a registered voter of the City of Jefferson who has NO changes to name or address?? (IF YES, CONTINUE TO #3) 3) Then fill out the State Absentee Request Form (link above) and send it to/drop it off at City Hall, prior to APRIL 1, 2010. Once this form has been completed, you may vote in person at City Hall (when the ballots become available) or we will mail you a ballot. If you reside outside the shaded area of the map, please contact the Jefferson County Clerk's Office (674-7140) to find out where you vote or request your absentee ballot from. If you have a change of name or address or are not a registered voter, please complete a new voter registration form.
