Bicycle Rodeo and Kid Care Identification
Sponsored and presented by the Jefferson Police Department and the Optimist Club of Jefferson.

The event will take place Saturday May 8th 2010 from 10:00AM until Noon at the Jefferson High School. Weather permitting, festivities will be held outside (in the event of rain event will be moved into the gym.)

This will be the 14^th annual Kid Care Identification presented by the Jefferson Police Department. The purpose of the event is to educate families about the steps they can take to help protect their children. The Kid Care ID program is part of a national campaign to increase the awareness about missing and exploited children. Parents will receive a Kid Care ID Book for each of their children.  Parents should complete the ID Book by including the child’s current vital statistics and a recent photo of their child. Kid Care ID gives parents “peace of mind” to know they will have all the necessary information if their child would become lost or abducted.

The Police Department is also pleased to announce the attendance of the Jefferson Fire Department and Jefferson Emergency Medical Services. Both will be present to give advice and answer any questions.

The Optimist Club of Jefferson will be presenting it 16^th annual Bicycle Safety Rodeo. The rodeo is designed to teach young cyclists the fundamentals of bike safety including bicycle laws in a fun and safe environment.

The youth’s participating in the rodeo will be able to register their bikes that morning for FREE. Also your child’s participation will make them eligible for special PRIZES to be given away. Even if your child’s bike is registered we encourage you to attend.

Additionally, FREE bicycle helmets will be given out to  participants while supplies last. So plan to attend the event and help us make it as much as a success in years past.

Several of Jefferson’s local businesses have again provided refreshments that will be FREE to all attending.
